To look their best on any platform, videos should be a certain size and shape -- and every platform has different requirements it seems.

To make things simple, we display videos in the most commonly-used size ratio out there -- 16:9 -- which is the same ratio that Youtube uses for its videos.

How to convert "ratio" into resolution

16:9 is how we describe the shape of the video -- it's 16 wide and 9 high. In other words, whatever your video width is, the height should be 9/16 of that width. Here are some examples:

  • 640px X 360px
  • 800px X 450px
  • 1000px X 562.5px
  • 1200px X 675px
  • 1400px X 787.5px
  • 1600px X 900px

Help! My video has black bars at the top and bottom (or on the sides)

When your video has not been output in the correct ratio as described above, then our player will show black bars at the top & bottom, or on each side, depending on the video size.

Here's an example of a video that was rendered at the wrong size - 1830 × 946, which is not high enough.
